Sabr & Hope Foundation was born from a place of deep pain, enduring faith, and a quiet determination to ensure that love and loss are transformed into lasting good.
In May 2025, our founder, Usman, experienced an unimaginable tragedy when a devastating house fire in St Raphael’s Estate, London, took the lives of his beloved wife and three children. In a single night, his world was forever changed. Usman survived the fire alongside his young daughter and his mother, who were also in the home. While their survival was a mercy, it came with the unbearable weight of grief, loss, and a future that looked entirely different from the one he had known.
In the days, weeks, and months that followed, Usman faced the kind of sorrow that words cannot fully capture. Yet within that darkness, his faith became an anchor. The values of sabr—patience through hardship—and hope—trust in Allah’s wisdom and mercy—became not just concepts, but lifelines. Through grief, he held onto the belief that even the deepest pain could be transformed into something that benefits others.
Sabr & Hope Foundation was created in honour of the family he lost, as a living legacy of love, compassion, and service. It represents a commitment to ensure that their memory continues to bring light into the lives of others. This foundation is not only about charity—it is about humanity, empathy, and standing beside those who are struggling, just as Usman once needed support himself.
Our work focuses on supporting individuals and communities facing hardship, including bereavement support, emergency relief, healthcare and medical aid, food insecurity, education for children globally, and guidance for those navigating their journey of faith. Every initiative we undertake is driven by the understanding that pain is universal, but so is the power of kindness.
At its heart, Sabr & Hope Foundation is a reminder that even after profound loss, purpose can still be found. It is proof that grief does not have to end in despair, and that through patience, faith, and service, hope can rise again.
This foundation stands as a tribute to lives deeply loved and forever remembered—and as a promise to continue choosing compassion, even in the face of loss.
“O Allah, grant patience to the grieving, heal the broken-hearted, and make this work a means of mercy and ongoing charity for those we have lost. Place light in their graves, elevate their ranks, and allow their legacy to be one of goodness, compassion, and hope. Āmīn.”
